    Professor Bachrach, who served for more than 60 years as a professor of micro-biology at the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine from it's inception, was born in Germany 1926 and emigrated to Israel, where he earned his Ph.D at the Hebrew University. He served during his career as a visiting professor or scientist at universities in the United States, Italy and Ethiopia and received an honorary doctorate at the University of Bologna in 1995.
